Medieval three musketeers theme wedding
I had a marvelous fun Bride and Groom I got to work with who wanted to do a Wedding based on the costumes from the Three Musketeers movie.
This was back in the 90’s so before digital photos, so please excuse the quality. We had a VHS tape, so you know how long ago it was, to copy the costumes from. At the time I owned a Sony VHS that would go frame by frame to see details so I could copy things and see where seams and fittings were. Making the costumes became a case of play and pause. The Bride wanted the long lace dropped V gauntlet sleeve ends and lots of lace on her dress with flow in the skirt and a kirtle look to the front. The Groom wanted a Brocade surcoat and we found fabric with a cream background and gold Dragons embroidered on it! The Bride found the suede textured fabric to make the capes, of all places, in the bargain centre at our local Fabricland. It was all coming together. My Bride, being arts and crafty, made her own design for the shoulder and back logos on the capes with a stylized S for their last name.
The Groomsmen all had the same basic white shirts we found somewhere in a costume shop and the capes that matched the Groom. Only the Groom had the surcoat to distinguish him from the others and a bit of extra length on his cape.
They had a fantastic wedding, I heard many of the guests came in costumes in keeping with the theme. Unfortunately these are my only pictures. Sometimes it’s hard to get appropriate pictures on the day to satisfy the dressmaker.
